Hace mucho que quería tener algo clásico, como de la vieja escuela del bolso cruzado. Cuero, color café, de líneas simples y suaves. Lo encontré! Este bolso/cartera es de la marca escocesa Rowallan y es justamente lo que andaba buscando por mucho tiempo!

Quite a long time I was looking for something rather classic, like the “old school” of the cross body bag. Made of leather, simple lines and soft. This bag is from the Scottish brand Rowallan, holds everything I wanted!

Xmas order - Encargo de Navidad

Encargo terminado! Este un chalequito/cárdigan en mangas raglan para una bebé entre 9 a 12 meses. Algodón y bambú, liviano e hipoalérgico. Gracias Natha Cox, mi mejor Clienta! :D

Xmas request finished! This is a light cardigan with raglan sleeves for a baby girl between 9 and 12 months. It is made in cotton and bamboo, very hypoallergenic. Thanks Natha Cox, you are my best costumer.

Crochet baby sandals

Por primera vez y a petición de una amiga chilena que vive en Cambridge, me tiré con unas chalitas/ sandalias  a crochet. La bebé Mia las usará en su bautizo que se realizará en pleno verano chileno. La madre quería algo menos convencional y esto fue el resultado, una monada!

My first time crocheting baby sandals. A good Chilean friend is baptising her baby daughter Mia in summer Chile and she wanted something a little less conventional for the outfit, and this was the result! So cute, isn't it!?

Well, well… this is my humble little chair totally restored. After sand, wax, upholstery, a new cushion - made by me, has crowned it!  The fabrics are from John Lewis.

G & T Chair 1930 ~ London

I have not been around much, I know. The children went back to school and they have so many activities after that! So every day passes so quickly, leaving me absolutely drawn by the end of it. Piano, maths, English, drama, swimming, scouts... you have to be kidding me! Haha!

Anyway, my creativity is taking a recess, hopefully soon I will come back right on track.

Nevertheless, I have a gorgeous find to show you! Look at this beauty. G&T Chair 1930. LOndon.

 It was love at the first sight! With some friends we went to look for something completely different in a second hand furniture shop. Dusty, with spider cobweb all over, I saw this. I had to have it! Now is standing comfortably in my living room. My children are adoring the size, thinking I bought it for them, specially  :D

No he estado concentrada en el blog últimamente. Los niños entraron al colegio y tienen tanta actividad extra programática que para el fin del día, me quedo totalmente acabada. Piano, matemáticas, inglés, teatro, scouts, natación. Me están bromeando?! Jaja

De todos modos, mi creatividad va pasando por una racha seca, espero luego retornar a las pistas.

Esto no quiere decir que no tenga nada que mostrarles. Miren esta hallazgo! Una humilde silla G&T de 1930.

Con unas amigas nos fuimos a una tienda de muebles usados buscando algo completamente distinto y arrumbada, sucia, con polvo y cebo de años, llena de telarañas, la encontré! Fue amor a primera vista!

Ahora está feliz en mi living en una esquina ideal. Los niños felices con el tamaño y creen que se las  he comprado a ellos especialmente.

Vacation so far...

Since the children started their summer holiday, we have done so much to mention! We had a lovely sunny week and that was every day/all day outdoor activities.

I have had a bit of holidays myself as I refused to cook and we went out for dinner every day! That is the way!

We have had as well a fantastic time watching the London Olympics and we are now convinced that we would like to attend to the Paralympics games, soon after the Olympics. That would be so much fun for the children!

I have experienced the tremendous joy of watching Team GB winning 17 GOLD medals, placing them 3^rd  - position  right after USA and China. I get the thrill of listening to the National anthem and I get so emotional, those athletes have worked so hard to get there and Gold is the recognition of their careers, making proud a whole nation. Well done Great Britain, I salute with so much respect!

* By the end of my blogging I was watching the men's vault and I saw the Chilean gymnast Tomas Gonzalez competing for my country; among the best, he ended up in 4th place and my heart went crazy... I guess I cannot denied I am Chilean at heart!

Desde que los niños salieron de vacaciones de verano, hemos hecho tanto que me parece difícil enumerar!  Tuvimos entre tanto una semana soleada, de esas únicas! Y todos los días hicimos actividades al aire libre. Me he dado también algo de vacaciones en mis obligaciones, y no he cocinado para nada, restaurantes y comidas para llevar! Así se hace pue’!

También, hemos tenido el mejor de los momentos viendo los Juegos Olímpicos y el equipo de Gran Bretaña ganado 17 medallas de oro hasta ahora, colocándolos en el 3er lugar después de EEUU y China. Me emociona oír el himno nacional inglés y pensar en todo lo mucho que han trabajado esos atletas para llegar hasta ahí. Medalla de oro es el reconocimiento a sus carreras, llenando de orgullo a una nación entera. Muy Bien Gran Bretaña, te saludo con mucho respeto!

* Justo al final de este post estaba viendo el salto en el caballete y aparece frente mi, por la tele, el chileno Tomás González compitiendo por mi país, se me arrancó el corazón! Quedó cuarto desplazado  por la increíble actuación de un coreano. No puedo negar que mi corazón es Chileno!

Mi marido me trajo estos mini perfumes desde  Nueva York. Me encantan las miniaturas, con eso no me quedo estancada en fragancias que no me agradan tanto y me permite probar de todo un poco.

Mi husband brought me this form his last trip to New York. I love mini perfumes, is a nice way to try different fragrances without getting stuck with a big bottle  that one dislikes.

Y un regalo que me he dado yo misma. Cubrecama algodón percale egipcio… una maravilla al tacto y hermoso diseño de Orla Kiely. No puedo esperar a acostarme y ni me dan ganas de levantarme en las mañanas. Música de Satie en los audífono y estoy lista en el paraíso.

And this is a gift to myself. I very soft, cheerful duvet cover of percale cotton. I cannot wait to get in bed and it very hard to get out of it in the morning. Satie in the earphones and I am in heaven.

    Sean apenado al ver partir el tren.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Algunos se preguntarán por que he estado tan desaparecida. Mi tía vino desde Chile a darse uno de esos paseos únicos. Desde su llegada no hicimos más que recorrer esta hermosa isla, nos dimos unas vueltas al continente, celebramos el bautizo de Sean y culminamos en la Estación Central de Ámsterdam, donde nos dijimos adiós viendo el tren partir con rumbo a Berlín- su próxima parada.

Con algo de pena y mucha felicidad por ella, nos regresamos a Inglaterra desde los Países Bajos, a seguir la rutina, el colegio, las lecciones de matemáticas y piano… la vida...

 Te echaremos de menos Tía Gina. X

Some of you might be questioning where have I been all these time, a bit absent from the blogland. My aunty came all the way from Chile to wonder around Europe, a one in a million trip. So, since her arrival, we did nothing but going around England, we celebrated the baptism of Sean, we escaped few times to continental Europe and it was there, from the Central Station in Amsterdam where we said Goodbye, while watching her train departing to Berlin, her next stop.

A bit sad, but very happy for her, we came back to England from the Netherlands... to continue our routine, the school, the maths and the piano lessons... our life.

We shall miss you Aunty Gina... x

Con una mala racha, de esas interminables. Mi hijo mayor con infección de oído y yo con amigdalitis. ANTIBIOTICOS… un personaje que no nos gusta para nada y que no veíamos en años!

Pero hay buenas noticias. Una buena amiga y futura comadre me ha regalado un libro del checo Milán Kundera. Nació en Brno, una ciudad en las fronteras con Austria y que he tenido el placer de visitar. Increíblemente detenida en el tiempo. El libro: La insoportable levedad del ser.

Una bloguera de Chile me ha enviado una carta! Gracias Carolina!

Y  me hice una flor/broche en crochet.

Les deseo lo mejor a pesar de que a mí me ha llovido sobre mojado.

A bit under the weather. My eldest son has an ear infection and I have tonsillitis for the first time in 30 years. So, Antibiotic, a word that we do not like.

Some good news as well. I good dear friend, almost Comadre, gave me a book as a present. I love those! The Unbearable Lightness of Being, from the Czech Milan Kundera, who was born in the lovely sleepy city of Brno. I was there in 2005 and I have to say that the only way I could communicate was in German! That sleepy!

Also a lovely blogger sent me a letter all the way from Chile: Thanks Carolina!

And I have made myself a crochet flower.

Crochet & Felt bunting ▼ Banderines de fieltro y crochet

Qué les puedo decir? Simplemente me encantan las banderitas. Alegran los espacios, levantan el ánimo; es una celebración constante de nuestro hogar.

La cadeneta está hecha a crochet con lana nueva, y las banderitas con fieltro. Simple y tan levantador de espíritu!

El retrato de la derecha es cuando yo tenía 1 año de edad, y fue pintado en Chile a petición de mi abuela, detalles Aquí.

What can I say? I just simply love buntings! They decorate the spaces in such a happy way, it is a constant celebration in our homes.

The chain is in crochet with new wool and the bunting is in felt. Simply and humbly lifting the spirit.

The portrait shows my image when I was 1 year old and it was commissioned in Chile by my grandmother, details Here.

Montonera de cosas lindas ♥ Just a bundle of cute things!

El afinador de piano poniendo el instrumento de primera categoría para Sean,  quien comenzó con sus clases la semana pasada. Otro músico en la familia.

Comienzo de año y resoluciones. Comer sano, no saltarme mi desayuno “super power”, así como los poderes de Uno de los Dr Who, este es el predilecto de mi hijo menor.

Beginning of a new year and resolutions: Not to skip my super powerful breakfast, just like the Dr Who powers, the dearest of my youngest.

Mis proyectos están estancados por la espera de terminar uno mega, laaaargo y casi infinito. Ven la similitud? Así es! Mi hijo mayor quiere la bufanda de Dr Who, unos de los personajes de 1976… tengo para rato!

My project seemed to be in stand still for the moment awaiting for the finishing one, it looks so loooong and almost infinite. Can you see the similarity? Yes, that is correct! My eldest son wants the scarf of Doctor Who. One of the character of 1976... that will keep me busy for a while.

The nutcracker ✾ El Cascanueces

Encontré este tierno cascanueces con forma de nuez, mis niños andan fascinados  con tremendo invento!

Mesa de ajedrez italiana ♝Italian chess table for my son

Me encanta mi pueblo! Vivo en una ciudad tan compacta, pero que a su vez tiene TODO lo que tú necesitas, por lo menos para mí. Si deseas algo aún más glamoroso, puedes ir a Cambridge o Londres y ya está, pero por lo demás,  Ely cumple con todo!

Por qué lo digo? Hace un tiempo ya que mi hijo mayor anda loco por jugar ajedrez. Para su alegría, descubrimos que el papá  fue campeón en el colegio (yo no lo sabía), así que se ha puesto a  tomar clases personalizadas. Cada vez que mi marido llega del trabajo, mi hijo lo agarra y no lo suelta más. El ajedrez se ha vuelto su pasión.

Por lo mismo se me había puesto que quería  comprarle un juego de ajedrez vintage, antiguo, con un valor es sí mismo. Estaba entrenando en un set comprado en una librería, lógico con piezas de plástico made in China, y eso no me gustaba nada.

Este sábado salimos con la familia comer comida india a un restaurante del cetro y luego le dije a mi y esposo que quería dar vuelta por el mercado (una feria de antigüedades y cosillas) para ver si encontraba algo lindo para Thomas. Y ahí la vi!!!! Me estaba esperando paradita, toda resplandeciente!

ES una mesa  de madera italiana 1950- 60. Su cubierta está tan  lacada, que brilla y reflecta las piezas de ajedrez. Se abre y sirve de almacén. En su interior habían cartas de juego Vintage totales, dados de póker en un antiquísimo estuche de cuero y otro juego Draughts, también vintage.

Las piezas son simples de madera, pero tiene una cuidada base de tela lanosa para no estropear el lacado de la mesa. Thomas la adora! ♝

Muffins y una buena lectura.

No soy experta en decoración de quequitos, pero estos los hice con mucho amor para mis hijos. Una sorpresa cuando lleguen del colegio. Azúcar flor, agua y colorantes…. No hay mucho secreto, pero sin duda un arte que yo no he conquistado.

Los libros son nuestros hallazgos vintage. Los amamos!

Un poco de color - Retro fabric bunting

Los días se ponen un poco más tormentosos (tormenta). Viento en remolinos alzan sin compasión las hojas ya marchitas… el otoño se acerca veloz.

Nada mejor que poner lago de color en el hogar a sabiendas que nos vienen meses grises y cortos. Encontré estos bellos banderines hechos  con tela retro. Totalmente YO.
