Inevitably, here we are! Now I am 40 years old! I have my family, my friends, my beautiful children, a celebration trip to Island of Sardinia in Italy... com’n com’n.. I am trying to see the positive in this haha.

Make-up basket ~ Canasto para las pinturas

I had this brown cotton, it was an old t-shirt. I cut it in a long string and I crocheted this for my bathroom. Now is accommodating my makeup. Everything in use in Sonido Retro!

Tenía una polera marrón  de algodón vieja y la corte en una tira larga. Tejí a crochet un práctico canasto para mis pinturas. Nada se pierde en Sonido Retro y reciclamos Todo! :d

Crochet baby shoes...

Cosa más deleitosa fue tejer esta “casi” producción industrial de zapatitos en crochet. Algunas amigas tuvieron guaguas (bebés), otras están a punto y quise entregarles un bello detalle.

Ya me magino esos piececitos en las fibras delicadas del algodón. Suspiros!

It was delightful to crochet this “almost” mass production of baby shoes. Some of my friend has just had a baby and others soon to become one, so I wanted to give them a delicate detail.

I can imagine the little feet snuggled in the soft cotton yarn already.

Somerset 2012...

We had one of those holidays, "almost" totally cut off from any internet, facebook, blog, twitter activity (not for my husband, of course,  who totally lives in a parallel planet always connected to the artefacts)

We were right in the middle of nowhere, Somerset that was; in a stunning property of the National Trust with a windmill in the back garden.  Our nearest neighbours were the sheep and the lambs. Nothing but the sound of nature and the marvellous look of it.

If your children do not get ill in the meantime and you do not have to drag them partially drugged in paracetamol everywhere, it is a place for all sort of activities, promising breathtaking discoveries. We covered all Glastonbury, the sea side, Bath, Cheddar (where the cheddar cheese come from), Wookey Hole (an amazing place for children, plus its caves), Cheddar Gore,  the prehistoric caves and lovely tea rooms...

It rained just the day we left... so we were very lucky in that respect.

Now I need a break for the Easter break! What is next? Oh... Italy jejeje

Tuvimos Uno de esas vacaciones... “casi” enteramente desconectados de internet, facebook, blogs, twitter y cuanta lesera virtual aparece – no por mi marido, obvio, el que vive en un mundo paralelo vinculado a un artefacto en las puntas de sus dedos, casi como prolongación natural.

Nos quedamos en una maravillosa propiedad de National Trust con un molino de viento en el fondo del jardín, estábamos justo en la mitad de la nada, el campo puro del condado de Somerset! Nuestros vecinos más cercanos eran los corderillos y sus madres ovejas. Nada más que el silencio conmovedor .

Si vuestros hijos no se enferman a mitad de camino y no tienen que arrastarlos medios drogados en paracetamol, la odisea  promete ser un viaje espectacular, con actividades y descubrimientos para quitarte el aliento.  Nos recorrimos todo Glastonbury, la playa, Bath, Cheddar (cuidad de donde viene el famoso queso), Wookey Hole (parque de entretenciones alucinante, con unas cavernas magnificas), la quebrada de Chaddar y otras cavernas prehistóricas, y para qué hablar de los hermosos salones de té.

Llovió justo el día que nos fuimos, en ese respecto fuimos también muy afortunados.

Ahora necesito un brake de estas vacaciones de pascuas, qué sigue ahora…oh, Italia jejeje.

Mother's day (almost) spring...

I ‘ve been all weekend engaged to George Harrison. I simply adore him!

I am feeling much better, thanks for asking.  I think we are ready to face the world tomorrow. Bring it on!

Spring is almost here, almost. Daffodils are blooming and the air feels fresh, but not so cold. I like that.

Today in England is Mothers day. I got an origami box, a bubble gum and stone, cream tea t the Anglesey Abbey and the treasure to have my family in better health.

He estado enganchada todo el fin de semana con George Harrison, simplemente lo adoro!

Me siento mejor! Muchas gracias por preguntar! Creo que ya estamos listos para enfrentar el mundo mañana.

La primavera está casi aquí. Los narcisos florecen y el aire se siente fresco y menos helado. Me gusta eso.

Hoy en Uk se celebra el día de la madre. Me regalaron una caja de papel en origami, un chicle y una piedra, más una invitación a tomar té en la casona de Anglesey Abbey. Pero mi mejor regalo es tener a mi familia reunida y todos ya con mejor salud.

Book, letter, flower...

Con una mala racha, de esas interminables. Mi hijo mayor con infección de oído y yo con amigdalitis. ANTIBIOTICOS… un personaje que no nos gusta para nada y que no veíamos en años!

Pero hay buenas noticias. Una buena amiga y futura comadre me ha regalado un libro del checo Milán Kundera. Nació en Brno, una ciudad en las fronteras con Austria y que he tenido el placer de visitar. Increíblemente detenida en el tiempo. El libro: La insoportable levedad del ser.

Una bloguera de Chile me ha enviado una carta! Gracias Carolina!

Y  me hice una flor/broche en crochet.

Les deseo lo mejor a pesar de que a mí me ha llovido sobre mojado.

A bit under the weather. My eldest son has an ear infection and I have tonsillitis for the first time in 30 years. So, Antibiotic, a word that we do not like.

Some good news as well. I good dear friend, almost Comadre, gave me a book as a present. I love those! The Unbearable Lightness of Being, from the Czech Milan Kundera, who was born in the lovely sleepy city of Brno. I was there in 2005 and I have to say that the only way I could communicate was in German! That sleepy!

Also a lovely blogger sent me a letter all the way from Chile: Thanks Carolina!

And I have made myself a crochet flower.

Malvinas or Falklands?

 Desde mi sillón entre hilos, madejas y agujas, me las he arreglado para seguir colaborando con la revista de la comunidad chilena en Uk.  Como algunos saben, soy periodista, y por mucho que me entretenga con las manualidades y la casa, mi verdadero amor siempre será escribir.

El Reino Unido y Argentina se han enfrascado nuevamente en lo que parece ser otro capítulo de una teleserie que aún no ha terminado.

Al cumplirse 30 años en abril de la guerra de las Malvinas/Falklands, dimes y diretes, amenazas y traiciones han comenzado a circular en las noticas internacionales. Y dentro de tanto alboroto, Chile también tiene su parte de la historia.

Unos años antes de la guerra de la Malvinas, Chile y Argentina se veían encajonados en el conflicto del Beagle, que es un canal interoceánico en la región de Magallanes, conectando el Océano Atlántico con el Pacifico, por lo tanto sus aguas transcurren  por terrenos argentinos y chilenos.

The children are on a school  holiday, so they have been at home for almost a week now. It is hard to do stuff, but today, while Thomas was doing his maths, I started drawing...

The truth is that I love keeping busy with my art/hand-craft and I do not have space to keep storing more and more things, so, without bonding too much with my creations, I decided to put them for sale!

Nobody would pretend ever to become a millionaire with this, but it would be a very nice idea that this very expensive hobby could actually afford itself and pay for the materials, as you all know people from the UK, they are very expensive. Well, we’ll see how it goes... But I just love doing this regardless.

Crochet & Felt bunting ▼ Banderines de fieltro y crochet

Qué les puedo decir? Simplemente me encantan las banderitas. Alegran los espacios, levantan el ánimo; es una celebración constante de nuestro hogar.

La cadeneta está hecha a crochet con lana nueva, y las banderitas con fieltro. Simple y tan levantador de espíritu!

El retrato de la derecha es cuando yo tenía 1 año de edad, y fue pintado en Chile a petición de mi abuela, detalles Aquí.

What can I say? I just simply love buntings! They decorate the spaces in such a happy way, it is a constant celebration in our homes.

The chain is in crochet with new wool and the bunting is in felt. Simply and humbly lifting the spirit.

The portrait shows my image when I was 1 year old and it was commissioned in Chile by my grandmother, details Here.

Bufanda de Dr Who ✰ Dr Who Scarf! 1976

Dr Who es una emblemática serie inglesa que comenzó a transmitirse en 1963 por la BBC y dura hasta nuestros días. Ha capturados miles de adeptos en el camino, atrapó a mi marido y también a mis hijos. Generaciones de fanáticos se han ido creando y pareciera que no tiene fin!

Les presento a petición de mi hijo mayor: La bufanda de Dr Who 1976 (unas de las tantas que usó este personaje).

Me he demorado casi dos meses en tejerla. Fue algo entre amor y odio, pues la hebra delgada parecía no avanzar y las proporciones de la bufanda eran increíbles. Por fin ya terminada, mide 3 metros 70 de largo por 25 centímetros  de ancho. Una odisea!

Dr Who is an emblematic English series that started in 1963 and it was transmitted by the BBC until nowadays.

It has captured thousands of faithful fans along the way, including my husband and children. Generation of Dr Who fan does not seem to reach end!

Let me introduce you, a unique request from my son: The Dr Who Scarf! – from the character of 1976, one of many designs that he wore.

It took me almost 2 months knitting this. It was a cross between “love and hate”, as the yarn was so thin, advancing look a very hard task, besides, the proportion of the garment where so unbelievable. Once finished, it measures 3 metres and 70 cm long,  by 25 cm wide. An odyssey!
