Tic tac toe - Juego del Gato en crochet

Los niveles de luz son muy bajos hoy. Estamos en una nube, literalmente en una.

Ideal para tejer y  todas esas actividades hogareñas que tanto me encantan.  Mi hijo menor no fue al colegio y enfrenta levemente su primer resfrío de las estación, así que nos quedamos regaloneando en casa. Es bello!

Y el juego del Gato fue un arranque lúdico inspirado por El hada que teje en Argentina, uno no puede dejar  pasar cosas tan inteligentes. Me ahorro papel y rayas por doquier… no?

The levels of light today are extremely low. We are inside a cloud, literally.

Well, it is ideal for knitting and all those indulgence home activities I adore so much.

My little son did not go to school today, he is facing mildly the first cold of the season, so we stayed at home hugging each other and feeling cosy. It is nice!

The Tic-tac-toe was a playful impulse inspired by El Hadaque teje in Argentina, one cannot pass clever things like this. I save paper and scribble everywhere, no?

Últimamente he estado pegada con tres canciones… The power of love (Franky goes to Hollywood), A question of lust (Depeche mode) y Eyes without a face (Billy Idol)… clásicos temas de mi adolescencia.

El tejido es un gato que me han encarado en Uk, y el queque es un Brazo de Reina; institución en la mesa chilena. Bizcocho, manjar o dulce de leche y coco.

The slow days of Autumn - Lentos dias..

Alejada de las pistas totalmente. Tantas cosas me han pasado últimamente que ha sido algo difícil estar a trote con el blog.

Estoy terminando una bufanda tubular masculina para un pedido especial en Suecia. Eso me ha tenido a mil, más los niños, la casa y mis aventuras con las chicas de Ely.

I have been away from the blog tracks lately. I have been so busy that it have proved a bit too hard to keep it up with the posting.

I am finishing a male tubular scarf, a special request from Sweden. That keeps me really busy, plus the children –house – and adventures with the Ely Nice girls.

Well, well… this is my humble little chair totally restored. After sand, wax, upholstery, a new cushion - made by me, has crowned it!  The fabrics are from John Lewis.

G & T Chair 1930 ~ London

I have not been around much, I know. The children went back to school and they have so many activities after that! So every day passes so quickly, leaving me absolutely drawn by the end of it. Piano, maths, English, drama, swimming, scouts... you have to be kidding me! Haha!

Anyway, my creativity is taking a recess, hopefully soon I will come back right on track.

Nevertheless, I have a gorgeous find to show you! Look at this beauty. G&T Chair 1930. LOndon.

 It was love at the first sight! With some friends we went to look for something completely different in a second hand furniture shop. Dusty, with spider cobweb all over, I saw this. I had to have it! Now is standing comfortably in my living room. My children are adoring the size, thinking I bought it for them, specially  :D

No he estado concentrada en el blog últimamente. Los niños entraron al colegio y tienen tanta actividad extra programática que para el fin del día, me quedo totalmente acabada. Piano, matemáticas, inglés, teatro, scouts, natación. Me están bromeando?! Jaja

De todos modos, mi creatividad va pasando por una racha seca, espero luego retornar a las pistas.

Esto no quiere decir que no tenga nada que mostrarles. Miren esta hallazgo! Una humilde silla G&T de 1930.

Con unas amigas nos fuimos a una tienda de muebles usados buscando algo completamente distinto y arrumbada, sucia, con polvo y cebo de años, llena de telarañas, la encontré! Fue amor a primera vista!

Ahora está feliz en mi living en una esquina ideal. Los niños felices con el tamaño y creen que se las  he comprado a ellos especialmente.

Almuerzo en la gran sala de profesores de la Universidad de Cambridge en King's College, invitadas por el Profesor Weinberg,  y para terminar la jornada, una rica cena en el restaurante chipriota.

The simple life ~ La vida simple

Hoy nuestro desayuno fue algo austero, aunque es el preferido de los niños. Simplemente pan tostado con mantequilla, leche con chocolate y naranjas de Valencia.

Los platos son de melanina de la tienda del Tate Museum en Londres.

Las cosas simples son las que nos hacen más felices, no lo olviden.

Today our breakfast was quite austere, even though is the favourite of the children. Simply;  toasted bread with butter, chocolate milk and Spanish oranges from Valencia.

The melamine plates are from the Tate Museum in London, quite adorable.

The simple things in life are those that make us happy the most. Do not forget my friends.

Olympic London

Nos aventuramos a la capital. Conectados en una hora en tren, queríamos sentir el espíritu olímpico que se vive en la ciudad. Para nuestra sorpresa, las cosas se veían bastante tranquilas; un Londres que fluía naturalmente sin prisa, placentero.

Nos juntamos a almorzar con mi marido que trabaja en la ciudad, por lo mismo nos concentramos en el área de Tate, Bank of England Museum y  Southwark . Teníamos ganas de ir a Stratford y ver las fronteras  de la Villa Olímpica, pero Londres es TAN grande que el día se consumió fácilmente entre el primer panorama.

Terminamos la jornada tomando refrescos y pizzas en un restaurante en las orillas del río Támesis,  mientras el vaivén de las pequeñas olas nos adormecían, ya era hora de regresar y descansar merecidamente.

We adventured to the capital. Connected by one hour train journey, we wanted to feel the Olympic spirit in the city. For our surprise, it looked very quite; a pleasant London flowing without a hurry.

We met with my husband for lunch, he works in the City, and for the same reason, we concentrated in the area of the Tate Museum, Bank of England and Southwark.  We wanted to go to Stratford and see the borders of the Olympic Village, but London is SO big that the day was consumed easily with the previous plans.

We finished our day with pizzas and refreshments in a pub by the river Thames, while the rolling of the small waves were making us sleepy, it was time to go home and rest.

Vacation so far...

Since the children started their summer holiday, we have done so much to mention! We had a lovely sunny week and that was every day/all day outdoor activities.

I have had a bit of holidays myself as I refused to cook and we went out for dinner every day! That is the way!

We have had as well a fantastic time watching the London Olympics and we are now convinced that we would like to attend to the Paralympics games, soon after the Olympics. That would be so much fun for the children!

I have experienced the tremendous joy of watching Team GB winning 17 GOLD medals, placing them 3^rd  - position  right after USA and China. I get the thrill of listening to the National anthem and I get so emotional, those athletes have worked so hard to get there and Gold is the recognition of their careers, making proud a whole nation. Well done Great Britain, I salute with so much respect!

* By the end of my blogging I was watching the men's vault and I saw the Chilean gymnast Tomas Gonzalez competing for my country; among the best, he ended up in 4th place and my heart went crazy... I guess I cannot denied I am Chilean at heart!

Desde que los niños salieron de vacaciones de verano, hemos hecho tanto que me parece difícil enumerar!  Tuvimos entre tanto una semana soleada, de esas únicas! Y todos los días hicimos actividades al aire libre. Me he dado también algo de vacaciones en mis obligaciones, y no he cocinado para nada, restaurantes y comidas para llevar! Así se hace pue’!

También, hemos tenido el mejor de los momentos viendo los Juegos Olímpicos y el equipo de Gran Bretaña ganado 17 medallas de oro hasta ahora, colocándolos en el 3er lugar después de EEUU y China. Me emociona oír el himno nacional inglés y pensar en todo lo mucho que han trabajado esos atletas para llegar hasta ahí. Medalla de oro es el reconocimiento a sus carreras, llenando de orgullo a una nación entera. Muy Bien Gran Bretaña, te saludo con mucho respeto!

* Justo al final de este post estaba viendo el salto en el caballete y aparece frente mi, por la tele, el chileno Tomás González compitiendo por mi país, se me arrancó el corazón! Quedó cuarto desplazado  por la increíble actuación de un coreano. No puedo negar que mi corazón es Chileno!

Pan amasado Chileno ~ Chilean hand kneaded bread

La otra tentación  irresistible es el pan amasado recién salido del horno. Esta es una receta de familia, algo secreta , algo al ojo - como todo lo que hago. Les he preparado esta exquisitez de la cocina popular chilena a mis hijos y lo comeremos dentro de poco a la hora de once.

Another irresistible temptation is the kneaded Chilean bread just coming from the oven. This is a family recipe, a bit secret, a bit  of my personal touch, like everything I do. I prepared this exquisiteness of the popular Chilean cuisine to my children and soon we will eat them with avocado at tea time.
