Celebrations!

Essi Friends! (Cosa Italiana)

Duomo Florence, Italy.
~~
Heart-warming things… Not long ago Diana, my friend from Mexico, and I went to Pisa and Florence, just in a “girls only trip”… How fantastic was to share with another female soul the simple details about our lives - oh well, and do some shopping in Italy! … Cheers for friendship!

I travel to Italy average twice per year - minimum one and maximum 3. I am in love with the language, culture, architecture and food. In one of my trips to Venice I discovered some unique  biscuits, so simple and yet so delicious, strangely,  very hard to find outside the province, because they belong only to the area of Venice, Burano and Murano.
My good friend Mary, a Lady from Venezuela just arrived from the Carnival of Venice and brought  me some of this indulgence. Oh ! how I am enjoying this!

The slow days of Autumn - Lentos dias..

I have been away from the blog tracks lately. I have been so busy that it have proved a bit too hard to keep it up with the posting.
I am finishing a male tubular scarf, a special request from Sweden. That keeps me really busy, plus the children –house – and adventures with the Ely Nice girls.
Next a potpourri  of all I have stated below.

On tour... Amsterdam.

 ~~~
Some of you might know about my deepest friendship with a friend from childhood called Mauricio. He is a Chilean lad who lives in Holland, even for longer that he lived in Chile.
Our link has remained intact since 1985 or so, and although we have been geographically misplaced, we are simply 45 minutes plane journey way.
Holland is very similar to the area I live now: East Anglia. The Dutch were in fact responsible for draining and gaining land to the watery fens, and  transformed this land in a productive one. They helped the British with experience and advanced technology, we all know they have done this with their own land and they are seriously below sea level.
In Ely and its surrounding areas we can find wind mills and basically all the Dutch principles, that is why the landscape is so flat, almost monotonous at time.
So we decided to pay a visit, Macana Brothers and Traveller Aunty  included flew over  to Amsterdam  and we strolled around classic and liberal neighbourhoods of the Dutch Capital.
The funniest thing was to see how my children and my friend’s son seemed to get along so well. It was nice to see a second generation making friends and hopefully the beginning of a long good one.
WE felt like home, we ate lovely, we did a boat trip, we smelt some perfumes from certain coffee shops (inevitably) and just like Bob Marley, we did not hurry at all admiring the beauty of such a lovely city of contrast.
El bautizo de Sean ~ Sean's baptism
       Comencemos por parte. Como algunos saben, mi tía anduvo por las islas británicas, de hecho aún anda paseando por el continente Europeo. Ella es uno de los pocos lazos familiares que tengo en Chile.
Lo veníamos planeando hace un tiempo, hasta que lo concretamos a principios de Junio, para coincidir con la visita de mi tía y cerrar el círculo perfectamente.  Dos madrinas y un flamante padrino tendría Sean y con eso la oportunidad de ser queridos por muchos, bajo la bendición de la iglesia católica - que es la fe que mi familia profesaba.
Comenzamos todo con un hermoso servicio en la St Etheldreda y luego terminamos con una fiesta/ recepción en el centro de la ciudad. Todo muy bello. El padre me dijo al ver la iglesia tan llena que mucha gente se había congregado hoy por el bautizo de Sean, “tienes muchos a tu lado, eres una mujer con mucha suerte”, agregó. Y es verdad, miré a mi alrededor y vi a estos rostros alegres compartiendo un evento familiar tan importante, me sentí plena y feliz.
Sean estaba muy contento y creo que a los 5 años es una estupenda y tierna edad para bautizar, pues los niños se enteran de lo que sucede y lo esperan y disfrutan tanto como nosotros.
Let’s start from the beginning.  Some of you already know that my aunty was visiting the British Isles; in fact she is still travelling around the European continent. She is one of the few family links I have left with Chile.
We were planning this for quite a while, until we concreted all at the beginning of June, to take advantage that my aunty was here and close the circle perfectly. Two Godmothers and One splendid Godfather Sean had, and with that, also the opportunity to be loved by many, with the bless of the Catholic Church, which is the religion that my lost family used profess.
We started the service in St Etheldreda and then we had the party/reception in town. Everything was beautiful, a lot of people attended and when the priest saw this, he was congratulating me how lucky I was. And it was true. I looked around me and I saw all this familiar and smiley faces being there for me and my family; I could not feel happier and content.
Sean was very excited as well. I think baptizing a child at the age of 5 it can only be a good thing. He was very much looking forward and when the moment arrived, it felt like Xmas and birthday together.
Paris.
He estado sumamente viajera. Pocos días después de mi regreso de Italia, con una amiga Mexicana nos fuimos a la ciudad de las luces: París!
Nos instalamos en el Eurostar y nos fuimos tranquilamente atrapadas en conversaciones sin fin, no nos dimos ni cuenta cuando cruzamos subterráneamente en Canal de la Mancha y en una cosa de horas ya estábamos en parís. Vive La France!
Continuidad de mi celebración de cumpleaños. Próxima parada: Roma!
I have been extremely fond of travelling. Few days after I arrived from Italy, with a good Mexican friend we went to the city of lights: Paris!
Quiet and comfortably we set off on the Eurostar. We engaged in an endless conversation while the rocking movement of the train was relaxing us. We did not even realize when we crossed under the English channel and in matter of hours we were in Paris!. Vive La France!
This is part of my continuous birthday celebration. Next stop: Rome!
